Overview

Responsible for properly setting up patient, calibrating equipment, trouble-shooting problems and performing according to
department protocol. Reports directly to the Clinical Director and supervises the Sleep Center staff.

Responsibilities

  • Applies electrodes and other measure devices and operates equipment in an appropriate manner to obtain high quality polysomnagram.
  • Assures maximum comfort for the patient and provides education necessary to ensure patient’s acceptance of the procedure.
  • Provides patient education on therapy and arrange for home care as required.
  • Provides appropriate documentation for physician interpretation. Maintains records, reports, logbooks as required.
  • Ensures proper functioning of equipment.
  • Provides routine cleaning of equipment as needed.
  • Maintains appropriate inventory of patient supplies.
  • Ensures cleanliness, appearance and safety of physical plant and reports issues to the appropriate department as well as supervisor.\
  • Maintains department medical records.
  • Proficiently uses computer system.Completes and submits billing and financial information on a daily basis.
  • Able to trouble-shoot equipment as needed to perform study.
  • Titration oxygen and non-invasive pressure support as required by Medical Director guidelines.
  • Collects, analyzes and integrates patient information to identify and meet patient specific needs, limitations.
  • Determines final testing parameters/procedures in conjunction with ordering physician, Clinical Director, and Lab protocols.
  • Oversees and performs difficult and unusual procedures and therapeutic interventions.
  • Scores sleep/wake stages by applying professionally accepted guidelines.
  • Generates accurate reports by tabulating sleep/wake and clinical count data.
  • Performs routine and complex equipment care and maintenance.
  • Responds to study participant’s procedure-related inquiries by providing appropriate information.
  • Demonstrates ability to analyze complex situations and apply policy.
  • Complies with BRPT standards of conduct.

Qualifications

  • Graduate of an approved respiratory school preferred but will train with Associates degree in most health sciences or successful
    completion of polysomnagram program less than 1 year duration associated with a state license and/or a nationally accredited
    educational facility or equivalent experience and documented proficiency at all competencies required of a polysomnographic
    technician.
  • Previous clinical experience preferred.
  • Respiratory License / New Jersey required
  • NBRC credentialed preferred
  • Certification by the Board of Registered Polysomnographic at all competencies required of a polysomnagraphic technician.
    Current BLS, ACLS, PALS certifications preferred.
  • Strong professional, organizational, and interpersonal skills to effectively relate with all members of the healthcare team. Strong
    customer service skills.
